The outbreak of the coronavirus forced most of the world’s children and youth to stay out of school. According to UNESCO1 , the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the largest school closures and education disruption in history, with more than 1.5 billion students affected at the height of the crisis. In Kenya, schools were closed shortly after the first case of Covid-19 was reported in March 2020 interrupting learning for over 17 million students2. Since then, the Ministry of Education started the partial reopening of schools in October 2020 and now full reopening effective January, 2021, a move that has received mixed reactions from various stakeholders.
